TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks 5.x is a graphical user interface based integration platform which supports high scalability and interoperability to easily design, configure and develop complex integration projects and automate business processes.

The ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks 5.x platform has no end of support date and will continue to be maintained in parallel with the BW 6.x platform. Adapters and Plug-ins that are compatible with BW 5.x will continue to have versions available that are supported with BW 5.x.  End of Support may be announced for older Adapter and Plug-in versions via individual end-of-support notices.

As of March 17, 2025, the current Long Terms Support (LTS) release is BW  5.16.1. For details, please refer to the BW 5.16.1 Release Notes,  and our TIBCO LTS policy

Because the new releases of BusinessWorks 5.x include security updates and support for current platforms, we may announce end of support for older versions of BW 5.x along with older adapters and plug-ins, which may contain security vulnerabilities and support obsolete versions of operating systems and other third party software.

• Since there are BW 6.x releases also available, will you stop releasing BW 5.x releases?

The BW 5.x platform will continue to be maintained in parallel with BW 6.x.

• Should I upgrade to BW 5.15.1 or BW 5.16.1 ?

For optimal Long Term Support (LTS) we recommend upgrading to BW 5.16.1, please review our TIBCO LTS policy and KB0137390 The  highlights of 5.16.1 release and reason for all our BusinessWorks 5.x customers to consider early upgrade
