Products Versions
Spotfire Statistica 14.0 and higher

Description

During the upgrade process, there may be a need to migrate enterprise objects from an environment on an older version of Statistica to a newer version for testing purposes.  Typically each version of Statistica Enterprise has a unique meta database version or MINVER.  See https://support.tibco.com/support-home/kbsearch/article?articleNumber=KB0070414

When connecting to a new meta database, there is typically a requirement to upgrade the meta database schema before the connection can be made. A warning like the following will appear:

The reason is the meta database version may have changed in a newer version.   However, upgrading the database schema needs to be avoided so as to avoid non-compliance, etc.

Issue/Introduction

How to migrate enterprise object from a source database to a target database when Spotfire Statistica meta databases versions are different.

Environment

OS:  Windows

Resolution

Use the lower version of Statistica to migrate to a higher version.  For example, if Statistica 13.5 is currently used in production and the upgrade is to Statistica 14.2, then follow these steps:

1.  Login to Statistica 13.5

2.  Open Enterprise Manager>>Enterprise Database Migration Utility

3.  Click on the "Source DB" button and select the DSN for 13.5:

4.  Select the "Destination DB" button and select the DSN for 14.2:

5.  Both object trees appear in the migration utility without the need to upgrade the database version:

Advisory:  Make a backup of the source database before migrating any objects.
