Description

In some cases it is desirable to change the case names, e.g., to change the case names to match the names in a variable or to change the names in a variable to match the case names (cases are also known as rows or records).

Example One -  use the tool to copy names in a variable to the case names

 

This is useful if the case names need to be replaced with the names of products or individuals that are stored in a variable.

1.  Select the variable from which you want to transfer the names

2.  Go to Data>>Cases>>Names to open the Case Names Manager

3.  Enter the variable number, in this case 12, in the Transfer case names From.  See below:

Example Two -  use to transfer case names to a variable

 

1.  Add an additional variable (

  1. right-click on any variable>>Add-Variables. 
  2. Leave the "How Many: " to 1.
  3. Add the variable name after which you want the new variable to be added
  4. Add the new variable name

2.  Go to Data>>Cases>>Names to open the Case Names Manager

3.  In this case, enter the number 4 in the "Transfer case names to" box and click OK.  See below:
