Description

The Statistica Service has a fallback user option so if a current users login fails, the fallback user will login successfully.  This allows WebPlayer or Consumer dashboards which Statistica Data Functions to run successfully.

Environment

OS:  Windows

Resolution

Spotfire Webplayer Licensing

Spotfire Webplayer users only require a Spotfire Consumer license to view and run dashboards on Spotfire Server, even if those dashboards utilize Statistica Data Functions.

User Group Configuration

In the Spotfire Server's user group configuration, users who will be utilizing Statistica Data Functions should be part of a group with the Spotfire Consumer license enabled.

Statistica Properties Configuration

The statistica.properties file is a text file that needs to be edited to enable the fallback user property.

1.  Open the statistica.properties file with Notepad as an administrator.

2.  Remove the "#" symbol from the beginning of the statistica.enterprise.fallbackuser property line.

3.  Add the username of the desired fallback user to the statistica.enterprise.fallbackuser property.

Note:  If specifying a Windows integrated user, use double backslashes in the format: domain\\user.

Statistica User Permissions

The fallback user in Statistica Enterprise must have the necessary permissions to execute all Statistica workspaces used as Statistica Data Functions.

It is recommended to either create a dedicated domain user or use an existing domain user as the fallback user.

Granting the fallback user system administrator (SADM) permissions in Statistica Enterprise can help prevent permission-related issues.

Workspace Permissions

Ensure that the fallback user has appropriate permissions to access and run the specific Statistica workspaces.  For example, if a workspace is configured to only allow the "Administrators" group to execute it, the fallback user must be a member of that group or have sufficient permissions.
