During the installation of Statistica components that rely on the Enterprise framework, such as Statistica Server, Data Entry, Monitoring and Alerting Server, and Live Score, a special built-in Admin user is automatically created. This account is essential for initial configuration and is stored directly within the Statistica meta-database.
The primary purpose of this built-in user is to serve as a break-glass account and the initial point of login immediately after installation. Since the Statistica application must authenticate users against a central repository, this built-in account guarantees an administrator can log in to the newly deployed system to perform the first critical administrative tasks, specifically:
Integrating with internal authentication (Active Directory).
Adding and provisioning other administrative and standard users to the system.
OS: Windows
Due to the critical nature of this account and the fact that its default password is known from the installation instructions, strict security measures must be taken immediately after installation. This informational article details the proper use and crucial security considerations for this account.
Initial Login: Use the built-in Admin account for the very first log-in to the Statistica Enterprise Manager application. Note: This account is also provisioned for accessing Data Entry web forms.
Required Action: You must change this default administrator password using the Statistica Enterprise Manager application or disable this account after creating a new administrator account.
Configuration: Once logged in, the administrator should immediately configure the system to use the organization's standard authentication provider ( ie., Active Directory).
Delegation: After integrating with directory services, the administrator should create (or import) and secure a new, dedicated primary domain administrator account and assign it full administrative rights.
Security Best Practice: The credentials for the built-in Administrator should be treated as highly sensitive and securely vaulted. This account should only be used as a failsafe if external authentication systems are unavailable.
Important Note: The built-in Admin user cannot be deleted from the Statistica system. It is a foundational account necessary for recovery and must remain in the meta-database. After initial login, change the password and/or disable the account.
This article explains why the initial built-in Admin user is created during the installation of Statistica's Enterprise components and outlines its primary function for securing and setting up initial user access within the environment.
