Description

TIBCO products enforce licensing through specific log messages that indicate the status of the entitlement. These messages help administrators identify if a license is missing, expired, or bound to the incorrect Host ID.

Log Message Severity Levels: Most TIBCO products follow a standardized notification timeline regarding license expiry:
INFO (> 90 Days): At the product startup INFO log message confirms the product is entitled and running normally.
NOTICE (< 90 Days): Warns that the entitlement is ending soon; renewal planning should begin.
ALERT (< 7 Days): Critical warning that product shutdown is imminent.
ERROR (T-0 Days): The entitlement has ended, and the product will shut down or fail to start.

Resolution

If you encounter an ERROR or ALERT log message referenced in the attached files:
1. Identify the Activation Method: Determine if the environment is using an In-Product Activation  (IPA) or connecting to a remote server, TIBCO Activation Service (TAS).
2. Check the Error Code:
    ◦ NO_ENTITLEMENT / License not found: Ensure the .bin file is present in the correct folder
    ◦ ResponseHostIdMismatch: The license is bound to a different machine. Generate a new "Any Host" license or correct the binding
    ◦ FeatureNotFound / Expired: The license has expired. Download a newly renewed license from the TIBCO Portal
 
3. Apply the Fix:
    ◦ For IPA: Replace the .bin file locally. No restart is required for BW, EMS, or RV if the filename remains valid,.
    ◦ For TAS: Upload the new license to the TAS server using tib-activate license upload
