Description
Is it supported for one Spotfire Analyst major release to interact online with a different Spotfire Server major release (not just working offline)?
Issue/Introduction
This article confirms that it is NOT supported for one Spotfire Analyst major release to interact online with a different Spotfire Server major release. For example, using Spotfire Analyst 12.0.x with Spotfire Server 14.0.x is NOT a tested or supported configuration.
Environment
All supported operating systems
Resolution
No, it is NOT supported for a Spotfire Analyst major release to interact online with a different Spotfire Server major release.
This is documented in the system requirements for Spotfire Server.
It is also likely to lead to problems we cannot help you resolve.
Some specific examples:
(1) Use of Spotfire Analyst 12.x.x or Spotfire Analyst 14.x.x with Spotfire Server 11.4.x is NOT a tested or supported configuration.
The system requirements for Spotfire Server 11.4.x specify use of Spotfire Analyst 11.4.x:
System requirements for Spotfire Server version 14.0 LTS
Spotfire software:
Spotfire Server 14.0.x, with a Spotfire 14.0.x deployment, supports connections from Spotfire Analyst and web client 14.0.x. -----
Note: This is also true for the other Spotfire clients. When you upgrade Spotfire Server to a new major release (such as an upgrade from 12.x.x to 14.x.x), you must also upgrade the Spotfire clients (Analyst, Web Player, Automation Services).
