​An error message(as shown below) occurs while saving the data source template for Cloudera Apache Hive. This error message indicates that the Hive driver is missing from the lib folder in the Spotfire Server installation directory.

To resolve this problem, follow the below steps:

1) Open the link - http://www.cloudera.com/downloads/connectors/hive/jdbc/2-5-16.html to download the JDBC driver version - 2.5.16. I would suggest you to always download the latest available JDBC driver.

2) Once the download is complete, save this .zip file in a folder and unzip (extract) it. You will see multiple folders in it as shown below:



3) Unzip the "Cloudera_HiveJDBC41_2.5.16.1044" or "Cloudera_HiveJDBC41" folder.

4) Copy all files from the "Cloudera_HiveJDBC41_2.5.16.1044" or "Cloudera_HiveJDBC41" folder (except the PDF files) into the <installation dir>/tomcat/custom-ext-informationservices folder. (See image below)

5) Restart your Spotfire Server Service, so that it can recognize the newly added drivers.

Error message: "Validation of the data source template definition failed. Database driver.com.cloudera.hive.jdbc41.HS2Driver not found." in Spotfire Information Designer
