Description

To connect to Oracle Unified Directory(OUD) server through TIBCO Data Virtualization, the vendor team suggests using the LDAP adapter as it is a better fit to work with OUD.
However, there may be cases where the data source configuration for the Generic LDAP Adapter in TIBCO Data Virtualization is not properly set up. This misconfiguration can result in queries against the OUD server returning 'No results'.

Resolution

Sometimes, in the LDAP adapter configuration, the Base DN, a property found in the basic tab of the LDAP data source, is set to a very specific branch of the LDAP server, where it is unable to find the objects with the desired object class that the user wants to retrieve.

For e.g. A user is able to see data for a specific table(e.g. "Person") as the Base DN is set to (ou=people,dc=org,dc=com), Hence, the tables 'User' and 'Groups' do not return any results, because LDAP is not searching attributes related to "User" and "Groups" when OU is set to people(narrow Base DN).

To resolve this, the user needs to change the base DN to (dc=org,dc=com) and now TDV will be able to search for higher levels of the OUD tree and retrieve data for user and group server objects.
