Date originally published: 2023-11-16

Date Amended: 2026-07-01 with additional products.

New versions of certain TIBCO products (released after October 31, 2023) will no longer ship with Progress DataDirect JDBC drivers.

The following TIBCO products will be affected by this policy change:

  • TIBCO BusinessWorks 5.15.1, 6.9.0
  • TIBCO BusinessWorks Container Edition 2.9.0
  • TIBCO Runtime Agent 5.12.4
  • TIBCO Administrator 5.12.4
  • TIBCO Fulfillment Provisioning version 3.10 or higher
  • TIBCO Business Events Enterprise Edition version 6.3.0 or higher
  • TIBCO iProcess version 11.9.1 or higher

Customers upgrading to a product version that no longer includes data direct drivers will have two options:

  1. Migrate to native JDBC drivers that are included with the new product version
Product versions that remove DataDirect drivers will provide steps to migrate to native drivers in the product documentation.
  2. Procure Licenses for Progress DataDirect Drivers
Use of DataDirect drivers will still be supported but will no longer be provided by TIBCO. Product documentation will include steps for using Progress DataDirect.

Product Documentation for migrating applications to native JDBC drivers or Progress DataDirect drivers (using your own license):

    • TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks™ Bindings and Palettes Reference -> "Migrating existing JDBC applications with Progress DataDirect Drivers".

    • ODBC Drivers and Connectors:
      • Starting with TIBCO® Fulfillment Provisioning version 3.10.0, the iODBC.org driver manager is used and is available at $SW_HOME/distrib/kabira/3rdparty/native/libiodbc.
