Description
When you open an analysis file in the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player, and go to File or Menu > Export, you may see that the 2 menu items "Table" and "Table (Without value formatting)" are disabled/grayed out and cannot be selected.
Issue/Introduction
Export to "Table" and "Table (Without value formatting)" are disabled in TIBCO Spotfire Web Player
Resolution
1. This could be because the "Table" and "Table (Without value formatting)" options are disabled/grayed out unless your active visualization is a table-based visualization (Table, Summary Table or Cross Table). To make those options active, click on a table based visualization to make it the active visualization and then check the Export menu again.
2. Another reason could be that the ability to export data has been disabled for the active visualization. To enable or disable export for a table-based visualization, right-click on the visualization in Spotfire Analyst > select Properties > select the Appearance pane > check or uncheck "Allow table data export in Spotfire web clients" for the desired behavior.
Note that there is a license - "Change Exportability for Web Client Table Data" - which you set in the TIBCO Spotfire Administration Manager, which controls this feature. As documented in the TIBCO Spotfire Administration Manager - User's Guide, this license:
" Allows a user to specify whether the data in a Table, Summary Table or Cross Table, should be able to be exported if the analysis is opened in a Spotfire web client. If disabled, a default value or preference will determine if the data in the table can be exported from web clients. Set these preferences from the Preferences tab."
The above mentioned preferences (which are also managed using the TIBCO Spotfire Administration Manager) are set for each table-based visualization type individually. As an example, for the Table plot, use Preferences > Table > TablePreferences > ExportTableData
