Description

When report items will not appear in WebStatistica, yet the report items exists in the report folder, then it could be the report items names are too long.

Even though the report items were available in the WSReports folder, they could not be displayed via WebStatistica.  In this scenario, the report is using SQL Criteria selection and when these are added to the report, the names are really long (256 characters or greater).  For example, when creating an Enterprise Report (see this knowledge base article about how to create a report:  https://support.tibco.com/s/article/How-to-create-a-Statistica-Enterprise-Report), when using a workspace or data configuration that uses SQL Criteria selection, the following items may appear in the report like the following:

Report items resulting from SQL filter selection

When viewing the report items in the folder location where they are stored (<drive location>\WebStatisticaPub\wwwroot\WebSEWSS\WSReports\<report folder>), i.e. selecting the item, the following message will appear:

Cause:
Report do not show up due to Windows file character length limitations.   https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/76194da6-63df-4d1f-b6a0-899aa62c8725/windows-server-2012-r2-file-path-character-limit?forum=winserverfiles

Windows Server 2012 R2 has this issue.  Windows Server 2016 also has this issue but it can be changed in the registry:   https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/articles/000075424.html#:~:text=Windows*%20Server%202016%20supports%20file,to%20260%20characters%20by%20default.

Issue/Introduction

When using SQL Criteria selection in a workspace and subsequently in an enterprise report, the name may be too long and not show up in WebStatistica.

Environment

Windows operating systems only.

Resolution

The solution is to rename the report items before saving it.  The steps are:

1.  Add the report items to the report, as usual
2.  Right-click on the report item with the very long name and select "Rename" in the pop up menu:

Rename report item

3.  Rename to a shorter name that is reasonable
4.  Click File>>Save to save the report

Now the report items will show up in WebStatistica.
