Resolution:
This behavior is seen when the Domain transport is Enterprise Message Service (EMS). After adding a machine to the domain and starting the hawkagent_domain service, the status of the machine shows as a broken pipe. No errors are written to the TSM or Hawk log files. The Hawk related heartbeat topics are not present on the EMS server.
One possible reason is class path issue. Copying "%EMS_HOME%/lib/64\:%EMS_HOME%/lib\:" to the beginning of tibco.class.path.extended in the hawkagent_domainname.tra file and restarting the hawk agent should show the correct status on the Administrator GUI.
