Issue: When trying to open the TIBCO Scribe Insight Console, it fails and the error message below appears in the Windows event viewer logs

Issue/Introduction

When trying to open the TIBCO Scribe Insight Console, it fails and the error message 'Faulting application name: mmc.exe' appears in the Windows event viewer logs.

Resolution

  1. Ensure there are no pending Windows updates. If there are, proceed with updating Windows and reboot the server.
  2. Ensure the 5 Scribe services are running using a domain account that has dbo access to the Scribe Internal database in SQL. 
  3. Ensure the user running the Scribe Services and the users accessing the TIBCO Scribe Console have been added to the local admin user group and the Scribe Console users group. If the user is currently logged in on the Scribe Server, after adding the users to the groups, log off and log back in. 
  4. Restart the 5 Scribe Services
