Spotfire Statistica | 13.0 and higher |
1. In Statistica Enterprise Database Migration tool dialog, users can key in the login info for ODBC connections to both Source and Destination databases for the first time use. The login info for the source ODBC and Destination ODBC connections is then automatically written into Windows registry with encrypted strings, after it is used the first time. When re-open the Database Migration tool subsequently, the login info for both source and destination ODBC connections will be auto-filled by Statistica. Users will not need to re-enter the login info for subsequent uses.
2. In the situation that some users do not have the source and destination ODBC connection passwords even for the first time use, one can follow below steps to configure registry to make Statistica auto populate ODBC login info for those users even for the first time use, so that those users can still access and use the migration databases.
2.1 Open the Database Migration Tool from Statistica Enterprise Manager.
First configure the Migration utility tool with the appropriate source and destination database login information as well as any options you want configured in the Migration Utility options dialog. The login information about the source ODBC and Destination ODBC gets populated after it is used the first time. The info will be automatically written into the Windows registry file with encrypted strings.
Close the Migration utility tool.
2.2 Open the Windows Registry Editor (Those registry are database files, and only RegEdit, Regedit32 and the Kernel32 can read them) (User can type regedit in Start search box to open Window registry)
Browse the Window registry and find below registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\SECMU
Right click the mouse on the registry key, click on “Export”, give a name and save the registry file on local drive
2.3 Those users who don’t have the migration database ODBC connection passwords, can now import above saved registry file into their user hive.
After import successfully, the registry key with encrypted login info will appear in the user's Windows Registry. When the user opens Migration tool for the first time, the ODBC login info will be auto-filled by Statistica even for the first time use.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\SECMU
Note, if the user manually entered an Enterprise username and password for the first time, those settings will be part of the registry file. If that is the case, those settings can be removed from the registry file using notepad from the DestDatabase and SourceDatabase sections. The setting names are SEWSSUser and SEWSPwd. If user just clicked Use integrated login then this isn’t a concern.
