Description

What is the function of Statistica add-on for IE browser that was installed with Statistica?  Should users enable it?

Enable browser add-on

Issue/Introduction

This article discusses what the Statistica IE add-on does and who would want to enable it.

Resolution

The Browser Helper Object  was designed to prevent Statistica documents from opening up in IE.  Instead, we want Statistica documents to open in Statistica just like Office documents open in their respective Office application. Specifically, this is to prevent opening a Statistica file within the browser when a link to a Statistica file is on a web page. Because Statistica documents are DocObjects, IE (and possibly Edge) tries to open Statistica within the web browser. There are various reasons we don't want that to happen. The BrowserHelper object forces the links to open in an instance of Statistica instead of in the browser window. Chrome and Firefox never tried to open DocObjects in their browsers.

Users  who use IE should enable the IE Browser Helper Object.  Click the "Enable" button to enable.

* There is no issue with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers.
