Issue/Introduction
Where are the TIBCO Data Virtualization Install logs located when installing it on a Windows Operating system?
Resolution
When TDV installation is in progress or completed, all the logging related to the installation is stored in the Install logs that can be found in the Windows User's %temp% directory (this is not TDV temp directory). These logs help us understand what and if anything went wrong during installation.
The log file is called 'TDV_Server_install.log' Path: C:\Users\<user_name_of_the_user_who_installed_TDV>\AppData\Local\Temp Example: C:\Users\smummoju\AppData\Local\Temp
To navigate to the above folder: open 'Run' and type in %Temp% -> this will open "C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp".
When the TDV Installation is still in-progress, a file called 'bitrock_installer*' would be created that would keep recording the logs related to the installation process. After the installation is completed, this log disappears and creates 'TDV_Server_install.log' instead under the same folder. This log would contain all the information regarding the TDV Install.
Note: 1. Since, this file is created in a temp folder, it would get deleted automatically by the OS after a certain time. Copy this file to another location to save it. 2. Any new install of TDV would override the old TDV_Server_Install.log (if it is still present in the %temp% folder)
