Description

When running commands from the TIBCO Spotfire Server command line tool ("config"), you may notice that the resulting logging is different from if you perform the same action using other options (such as the Configuration or Administration tools) in the TIBCO Spotfire Server. As an example, if you export Library content using the Library Administration tool, this is e.g. logged in the impex.log on the TIBCO Spotfire Server, but if the export is done from the command line tool using the export-library-content command, the only logging is done in the tools.log.

Issue/Introduction

The TIBCO Spotfire Server command line tool "config" is only writing to the tools.log as opposed to Spotfire Server itself which writes to a number of different log files.

Resolution

Spotfire Server is writing to the impex.log and the command line tool "config" is only writing to the tools.log. This is because the command line tool ("config") is starting a separate process than Spotfire Server service and thus, writing to another log.
