Description
The configuration tool offers the most frequently used configuration options and generally, we run the configuration tool from a local/remote machine other than the Spotfire server machine.
Below error message may appear while running the config tool on a remote machine through command prompt:

Resolution
The root cause of the above error message is that the 'UIConfig' is not able to connect to the Spotfire database. Below are the steps to check and validate:
- Run the 'UIConfig.bat' file (e.g. <Spotfire Configtool install>\uiconfig.bat) by double clicking on it and check if you are able to connect.
- If the above fails, replace the existing 'bootstrap.xml' file present in the 'spotfireconfigtool' folder with the currently used for the Spotfire Server i.e from <Spotfire Server install>\tomcat\webapps\spotfire\WEB-INF\bootstrap.xml
- If step 2 is not feasible then create a new bootstrap file with the same encryption password.
