Description
You may notice the remote SMA/log collector installed on Windows 2000 Pro consumes up to 100% of CPU resources.
The root cause is the Windows 2000 Pro provider Event Log has performance weaknesses. Microsoft is aware of this therefore this provider has been completely rewritten and optimized for Windows XP and Windows 2003.
Resolution
There is no simple solution to improve the performance of this WMI provider on Windows 2000 Pro because Microsoft does not provide any update to correct this problem.
TIBCO recommends using Windows XP or Windows 2003 instead if at all possible.
