Use the procedure below to reset the admin password.

Issue/Introduction

This article explains how to reset the DSM admin password.

Resolution

1. SSH to the DSM 2010 appliance and log in as "toor"
2. Stop the DSM server service:
    /etc/init.d/dsm-server stop
3. Run the following command:
    /etc/init.d/dsm-server config
4. You will be prompted with a request to enter a new admin password.
5. Restart the DSM server service:
   /etc/init.d/dsm-server start
