Description

You can't connect to the Salesforce database using the Adapter, but you have confirmed that you can access Salesforce via the web from this server and that the user is an Administrator.  When you attempt to connect, you see the following:

Error details:

Salesforce Adapter Connection Error Number 896: "login Failed  Response is not a well-formed XML."

Additional info:

System.Exception: login Failed
Response is not a well-formed XML. at SFDC Adapter.clsSForce.Logon(String url, String userName, String password, String& newURL, GetUserInfoResults& info)
at SFDCAdapter.Database.DoConnect(Object db, Int32 flags)

Resolution

Get the Security Token for the Salesforce user you are configuring in the TIBCO Scribe Insight Connection dialog and add that to the end of the password when you set up your Connection for the Salesforce Adapter.

Note: Security token is added to the login password all as one item.
