TIBCO Scribe Insight | All Insight Versions |
If you are installing TIBCO Scribe® Insight and are getting a message that a reboot is required (even after you have just rebooted), then there are a couple of possible causes. There may be a Windows Update that may not have installed properly and preventing a reboot from being effective in completing the upgrade. Check the Windows Update > View update history for any updates that may have failed and require attention before a reboot will successfully install the update. Second, you may have some orphaned registry keys left over from a previous install or installs.
The existence of the Registry files below may cause this error. Make a backup copy of the Registry and then delete the key(s) listed below. It is common to find just one of the keys listed below. After deleting the keys below, right-click - Run as Administrator on Setup.exe to open the Install Wizard.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations
The file above is the most common, however those below can also trigger this behavior:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress
If working on a 64-bit machine, you may find the settings in the following registry keys instead of those listed above:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress
