Description

When using the TIBCO Spotfire installed client version 10.1 on the Windows 7 operating system, any connection that requires an ODBC driver will fail to connect.

This includes data connectors which require an ODBC driver to be installed (see referenced system requirements), where the connection attempt will fail with the error "Could not connect due to an unknown error" and the details section will be empty, like:

And this also includes using an ODBC data provider via Data > Add > Other > "Load data with ODBC, OLE DB, or ADO.NET data provider". The connection will fail with error "Failed to execute data source query for data source".

Issue/Introduction

Resolution

To resolve this issue, upgrade to the TIBCO Spotfire version 10.2 or higher.
