FORCE_DISK option can be supplied as a query hint. It has the below advantages:

1. It frees up memory for other requests and server operations.
2. It is useful for known queries which consume large amounts of memory, or always spill from memory to disk.
3. It helps in moving query from memory to disk may be more expensive than running entire query on disk with FORCE_DISK.
