Yes , Spotfire supports Wild card (asterisk(*) , Question Mark(?) ) symbols in Information link Prompt value (see attached wildcardinformationlink.PNG , wildcardinformationlink1.PNG)
 

Example: You have the following data:

Gujrat , Madhya Pradesh State, Maharastra ,Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh , Indore

Passing Prompt value as  "Ind?re" will fetch you Indore only i.e values starting with "Ind" , ending with "re" and of 6 characters.
Passing Prompt value as  "*Pradesh" will fetch you Uttar Pradesh i.e all values ending with "Pradesh"
Passing Prompt value as  "*Pradesh*" will fetch you Madhya Pradesh State and Uttar Pradesh i.e all values containing "Pradesh"
Passing Prompt value as  "Pradesh*" will fetch you Uttar Pradesh i.e all values starting with "Pradesh"
