How to monitor TDV SNMP Traps

Resolution

TDV Passive monitoring involves asynchronous notification when an event occurs, such as:
  • Server process shuts down
  • Monitor daemon process shuts down
  • Repository process shuts down
  • Cache refresh fails
  • Trigger execution fails
  • Data source connection pool exhausts
  • Data source becomes unavailable etc.
TDV provides passive monitoring capabilities by raising SNMP traps

Below are steps to monitor SNMP traps using MIB Browser (iReasoning ):
  1. Download iReasoning MIB Browser Free Personal Edition from http://ireasoning.com/download.shtml
  2. Launch iReasoning MIB Browser  and load the Composite MIB,  File >> Load MIB  and select <CIS>\apps\server\ CompositeSoftware-MIB.mib
  3. Start Receiving Traps Tools >>Trap Receiver
  4. Enable SNMP traps in CIS, in Studio >>  Configuration >> Server  >> Events and Logging >> Logging >> SNMP  >> Enable SNMP Events
  5. Add "SNMP" to any or all events you want to be enabled.
