Resolution:
The Designer will either use the field "Id" or "ID" as the key field if it can find it. It will assume that the "Id" or "ID" field is the "ROW_ID" for that business component. "Id" is a Siebel internal field which always points to "ROW_ID". If you have a customized "ID" field, you need to make sure it also points to "ROW_ID" or is really a key field.
The Designer does not treat "id" or "iD" specially, namely it just shows it as is and does not treat it as the key field.
