Resolution:
If you download the GridServer SDK for Solaris and try to unpack it with tar, you may receive a tar checksum error with the archive.
You must use GNU tar to unpack the SDK on Solaris, as the SDK contains long filenames (greater than 100 characters). The Solaris version of tar does not suppport long filenames.
GNU tar is available at http://www.gnu.org/software/tar/tar.html.
