The following error is observed in the BW engine log file during startup after the PD Governance Agent for BW has been configured using TCT:

com.tibco.governance.agent.GovernanceAgentException: Caught an exception trying to prepare the Governance Agent logger.

Caused by: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file

This error is seen if bwengine.tra is using JRE1.5.0.
Resolution
===========
The issue can be resolved by upgrading the JRE version referred to in the bwengine.tra file to JRE1.6.0 . This can done Using the traUpgradeManager tool available in TRA_HOME\bin folder.
