The Standalone Adapter (classic mode) runs outside of the ActiveMatrix environment. The Adapter Binding Type exposes Adapter Services via its Service and Reference Bindings, providing a bridge that allows other ActiveMatrix components to communicate with the Standalone Adapter.  The Adapter Binding Type uses AE (RV or EMS) Messages to communicate to the Standalone Adapter.
