Resolution:
No it is not possible to have the dropdowns on record search page within CIM. But it can be achieved using the Webservices that are supported by the CIM.
Please refer to the "Chapter 12 Webservices" of the customization guide, here you will be generating the UI using some other product like TIBCO GI.
