Effective October 30th 2008, SUN J2SE 1.4.2 will reach its End of Service Life. (cf http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/index.jsp).

Our ability to support TIBCO products using Sun Java 1.4.2 on Solaris, Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems will be limited starting October 30th. Customers using TIBCO products with Sun JRE 1.4.2 (for example TRA 5.3.x and earlier, or any TIBCO products that require TRA 5.3.x or earlier), are strongly advised to migrate to a TIBCO product version that supports (or embeds) a supported release of SUN J2SE. If a Service Request is logged against a TIBCO product involving SUN JRE 1.4.2 or earlier, we may request that it be reproduced using a TIBCO product version with a supported SUN Java release.

For example,
- An issue that occurs using TRA 5.3, which supports Sun JRE 1.4.2, may need to be staged using TRA 5.4 or TRA 5.5, which supports JRE 1.5.
- An issue that occurs using TIBCO Administrator 5.3, which supports TRA 5.3, may need to be staged using TRA 5.4, which supports JRE 1.5.
- An issue that occurs using TIBCO Adapter for ADB 5.2.2 and TRA 5.3, , may need to be staged using TRA 5.5, which supports JRE 1.5.
