Industry status:
===============
SOAP over JMS is not a standard yet. TIBCO and a few other vendors have published the SOAP-JMS binding specification (http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/ws-axis-dev/200701.mbox/raw/%3C80A43FC052CE3949A327527DCD5D6B27020FB65C@MAIL01.bedford.progress.com%3E/3#binding-supported-meps).
TIBCO's implementation within BW:
==========================
BusinessWorks 5.3 onwards provides support for SOAP over JMS. As BusinessWorks 5.3 was released prior to the specification, the implementation of SOAP over JMS is based on a earlier version of the specification. To reduce impact to our customers we are waiting for SOAP over JMS to become a standard prior to supporting it in our products.
Interoperability and TIBCO's solution:
============================
Most of our competitors (IBM, BEA etc) also do not support the SOAP over JMS specification and have their own version of implementing SOAP over JMS. So it is likely that you will not see much interoperability across vendors i.e., either for invoking a service (SOAP over JMS) hosted on other products from BW or having other products invoke BW services.
In case you are running into such interoperability issues, please do contact us as we would like to further understand the cause. We will also take to supporting specific SOAP over JMS implementations on a case by case basis.
