Description:
TIBCO Hawkagent ,Administrator and Businessworks not starting after applying TRA  5.8 HF 11 on IBM AIX Platform. Domain Hawkagent ,Administrator and BWEngine will Core Dump with "Segmentation fault in atomicswap.compareAndSwapUDATA [/opt/tibco/tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64/default/libj9thr26.so".
Symptoms:
Hawkagent, Administrator and BWEngine will core dump with "Segmentation fault in atomicswap.compareAndSwapUDATA [/opt/tibco/tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64/default/libj9thr26.so". View the sample core dump debug output in the attached file (Filename: AIX-CoreDump-DBX-Output.txt).




Cause:

As per the following IBM documentation, there is a change in behavior of IBM JRE 1.7 and needs changes.

For JRE 1.7.0 on AIX, change from the default to j9vm:


/tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64/default:tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64:/tibcojre64/1.7.0/bin


to:


/tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64/j9vm:tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64:/tibcojre64/1.7.0/bin

Resolution

This issue has been addressed in TRA 5.9.0 or greater for TRA 5.8.0 on AIX  please use manual fix.

For Hawkagent Crash please replace tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64/default directory entry with tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64/j9vm in tibco.env.LIBPATH in Hawkagent_<DomainName>.tra

Should change to

For BW and Admin   TRA files please replace   tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64/default directory entry with tibcojre64/1.7.0/lib/ppc64/j9vm    from tibco.env.JVM_LIB_DIR in bwengine.tra and tibcoadmin_domainname.tra.
