Description:
BusinessConnect does not generate a 997 when a malformed X12 transaction is received. For example, an interchange received with more ST segments than SE segments will not generate a 997.
Symptoms:

Cause:
Normal operation of the BC EDI Protocol
Resolution
The BC EDI protocol will parse the inbound X120 data for basic validation and retrieval of the Sender/Receiver ID and Qualifier before sending it to the Instream engine. If these basic constructs are not correct (such as data containing a extra ST segment, but does not contain the corresponding SE segment), the BC engine will not generate a 997 AC because the inbound data is malformed.
