Description:
32-bit SAP JCo 2.1.x, which is the dependent vendor library used for establishing the Design-time connection with SAP, is incompatible with 64-bit Windows operating system.

Symptoms:
The execution on "Test Connection" through TIBCO Designer fails with the following error message:

"An exception was thrown while creating Application Instance, message: JCO.classInitialize(): Could not load middleware layer 'com.sap.mw.jco.rfc.MiddlewareRFC' JCO.nativeInit(): ..."



Cause:
32-bit SAP JCo 2.1.x is incompatible with 64-bit Windows operating system.

Resolution

Use 64-bit SAP JCo 2.1.x instead. When 64-bit SAP JCo 2.1.x is used, TIBCO Designer, on which "Test Connection" is executed, requires 64-bit as well. To obtain 64-bit TIBCO Desginer, 64-bit TRA must be installed. If the adapter binary is 32-bit, some additional configurations are required in order to make the 32-bit adapter work with 64-bit TRA on Windows. Refer to KB 36350 for more details.
