Data Source to be used as cache is missing from the cache selection list

Description
User clicked on view's caching tab and then clicked on browse button next to the data source field. A list of data sources was displayed. However, the data source that was intended to be used as cache is missing from the cache selection list.
Resolution
Only data sources that have been configured to serve as a cache will be displayed in the list of cache data sources. Specifically, the following fields need to be configured in the data source:
1. Status table
2. Tracking table

Once these fields have been configured, save the changes. The data source should now appear in the selection list.
