Issue/Introduction

Recommend file descriptor limits in (/etc/security/limits.conf) under RedHat Linux that need to be set at the OS level?

Resolution

On Linux, there is a per-process file descriptor limit set in /etc/security/limits.conf, that defaults to1024. Using that value is fine, but you need to bear in mind that you may have a problem if the EMS server has more than 1024 open files. (See KB 33306. EMS has a hard coded limit of 32768 to set the maximum number of connections it can accept). Increase the value as needed depending on you application.
