Issue/Introduction

This article explains the "The file is locked by another process" err seen when trying to save a TIBCO Spotfire .dxp file to Microsoft OneDrive

Resolution

When TIBCO Spotfire installed client is saving a file, it first creates a temporary file with tps as prefix. When it has been saved correctly it moves the temporary file to the correct file path defined by the TEMP Environment variable.  Microsoft OneDrive is often configured to block all *.tmp files, which interferes with the Spotfire application's temp file handling and which leads to this issue.

To resolve, here are 2 possible solutions: or:
  • Save the file locally to the C:\ drive first and then move it to the OneDrive folder.
