Description
When creating or editing a database connection, or a data entry Label, the "Description" in Statistica Enterprise Manager that is longer than 254 characters, produces the following error:
Issue/Introduction
The Description for the Data Connection objects is a maximum of 254. With this is exceeded, a confusing error message appears which doesn't explain the issue.
Environment
Windows operating systems only. Statistica Server editions.
Resolution
This is as designed. Keeping the data connection description to 254 characters or less will allow the data connection information to Commit, or to be saved, to the Statistica meta database:
