Description
When a Microsoft Excel file is introspected in TIBCO Data Virtualization using a Microsoft Excel (non-ODBC) data source then the data types are introspected as a VARCHAR.
This is because, when an Excel file is introspected into TIBCO Data Virtualization then the " Introspect with Formatted Display Values instead of Actual Values" option is selected by default.
If "Introspect with Formatted Display Values instead of Actual Values" is selected (which it is by default), the columns will be introspected as VARCHAR and the values will be displayed in TIBCO Data Virtualization as they are displayed in Excel (WYSIWYG).
Environment
All supported environments.
Resolution
To introspect these data types as their native types, the user needs to uncheck them. When it is unchecked, values will be introspected as the actual data type in Excel and will display in TIBCO Data Virtualization as the associated data type.
A user needs to follow the below steps(Snapshot for reference)
1. Uncheck the "Introspect with Formatted Display Values instead of Actual Values" while introspecting the resource.
2. The columns will now be displayed with their correct datatypes.
