Agent logs are used to see all the recent processes or activity performed by a TIBCO Scribe® Online Agent. The logs are updated continuously by the system, such as when a Solution is executed or when the Agent or a TIBCO Scribe® Online Connector is updated. Agent logs also include information about background processes taking place on the Agent such as syncing execution history to the Cloud. There are different methods for accessing Agent logs depending on the type of Agent you are using.
Access On-Premise Agent Logs From The UIThe Agent must be running to retrieve log files. On-Premise Agent logs are also available from the Gear menu of any Solution using that Agent. On-Premise Agent logs are single log files for all Solutions that use the Agent.
- Navigate to the TIBCO Scribe® Online dashboard.
- In the Agent widget, locate the Agent whose logs you want to access. If you cannot locate the Agent because the list is too long, select View All at the bottom of the widget to open the Agents page.
- Select the Gear menu for that Agent.
- Select Request Agent Logs. A zip file containing the Agent logs is created and downloaded to your computer. Depending on your browser settings the file is either saved to your default downloads location or you are prompted to save the file.
- Unzip the downloaded file to view the logs.
Access On-Premise Agent Logs From The Agent Folder
- Locate where the Agent is installed. By default, Agents are installed on the C: drive in the ..\Program Files (x86)\Scribe Software\Scribe Online folder.
- If you have installed multiple Agents on the system, each Agent is contained in a separate folder numbered based on their installation order. Open the folder for the Agent logs you wish to view.
- Open the logs folder to view available logs.
Access Cloud Agent Logs From The UICloud Agent logs are stored in the cloud where the Agent resides. There is a separate log file for each Solution using the Cloud Agent. Only the log file for the selected Solution is downloaded. The Cloud Agent must be running to retrieve log files.
- In TIBCO Scribe® Online select Solutions from the menu.
- On the Solutions page, locate the Solution associated with the Cloud Agent for which you would like a log file. Note that only the Agent information associated with that Solution is contained in the log file.
- Select the Gear menu for that Solution.
- Select Request Agent Logs. A zip file containing the Agent logs is created and downloaded to your computer. Depending on your browser settings the file is either saved to your default downloads location or you are prompted to save the file.
- Unzip the downloaded file to review the log files.
NOTE: There is an option to download Cloud Agent logs from the Agents widget on the dashboard and from the Agents page. Logs provided from that location are very limited and do not contain information about any Solutions executed by the Cloud Agent. Best practice is to download the logs using the option on the Solution Gear menu.
Log FilesYou may see three different types of log files.
- Rolling.log - Shows all the recent processes done by a TIBCO Scribe® Online Agent.
- AgentUpdateError.log - Shows activity that takes place when an Agent is updated to a new version of the Agent software.
- ConnectorUpdateError.log - Shows the activity that takes place when a Connector installed on the Agent is updated to a new version of the Agent software.
To view a log file open the file using a text editor.
To view past days logs for a rolling.log file, organize the folder by date modified. There is a log file for each day that had Agent activity. Log files for past days have a series of numbers and letters prepended to the file name, but all of them end in
rolling.log.
