Description

The following “internal error” messages are reported when the DTS CRM connection is configured to use the CRM built-in INTEGRATION user as the Run As User.  The error also occurs when the Run as User is not configured in CRM as an Integration User.
  • Execution terminated - target adapter user count invalid (The server was unable to process the request due to an internal error. For more information about the error, either turn on IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults (either from ServiceBehaviorAttribute or from the <serviceDebug> configuration behavior) on the server in order to send the exception information back to the client, or turn on tracing as per the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK documentation and inspect the server trace logs.)

Issue/Introduction

This article discuss the DTS Connection Settings, the CRM system built-in INTEGRATION user, and how to resolve the CRM internal errors reported after upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM 9.0.x.

Resolution

These errors appear to have started with the release of Microsoft Dynamics 365 version 9.0.x.  The resolution is to modify the DTS connection Run As User.
  • See attached instructions for modifying the Run As User.
  • Select a CRM integration User rather than the built-in INTEGRATION user.
  • Configure the CRM user as an Integration User ("Integration user mode" = yes)
  • If the TIBCO Scribe® Insight CRM adapter publisher is configured, you will also need to modify the publisher to use the new Integration User as the Ignore User.
  • If you are using Queue-based integrations, check ALL active DTS files to ensure the "Enable Run As User" option is either unchecked or configured correctly.
NOTE:  If the Run As User is not required for the integration, you can uncheck the "Enable Run As User" option to resolve the issue.
