Issue/Introduction

When attempting to use the TIBCO Spotfire Connector for IBM DB2 to connect to a zOS DB2 instance, the connection fails with the following error: ERROR [42601] [IBM][CLI Driver][DB2] SQL0199N The use of the reserved word "USER" following "" is not valid. Expected tokens may include: "TIME TIMEZONE SERVER CLIENT_ACCTNG CLIENT_USERID". SQLSTATE=42601

Resolution

Currently, the zOS version of DB2 is not supported per the system requirements:

The current alternative options follow.

  • To create a JDBC connection from the TIBCO Spotfire Server to use in Information Links, you must configure the data source template and add the required drivers on the TIBCO Spotfire Server, create your information model in the Information Designer, and then use File > Add data table > Information Link.
  • To create an ODBC connection from the local client machine, you must configure the proper DSN on the local machine and then use the File > Add data table > Other > Database > ODBC Data provider. The downside to this is that all users will need to have the same DSN set up if multiple users will be sharing the same analysis.
