Description

Cloud users who had been able to log in previously find that they cannot log into the TIBCO Cloud Spotfire Server URL (https://spotfire-next.cloud.tibco.com/) with the Analyst client, using Internet Explorer. When attempting to log into the TIBCO Cloud Spotfire Server URL, the following error is reported.

Error message: Cannot connect to the specified server.
Before trying again, make sure that the server you connect to is a valid Spotfire Server, that the server is running, and that you are connected to the network.

The user is able to connect to the TIBCO Cloud Spotfire Server URL directly using the Chrome or Firefox browser, but fails when attempting to connect with Internet Explorer.

 

Issue/Introduction

Cannot login to the Spotfire Cloud Server URL using Internet Explorer.

Environment

Product: TIBCO Spotfire Analyst Client Version: All supported versions OS: All supported Operating Systems

Resolution

We have disabled TLS 1.0 on the TIBCO Cloud Spotfire server to enhance PCI compliance, and the user's Internet Explorer web browser is not configured to handle the stricter security requirements that are in place now.

The user needs to modify the Internet Explorer security settings to handle the newer connection protocol. Refer to the image in the attached file (Filename: IE Security Settings TLS.png).

1).  Open Internet Explorer. Click on the Gear icon in the upper right hand corner and then click on "Internet Options".
2).  Click on the "Advanced" tab.
3).  Scroll down through the "Settings: list to the "Security" section.
4).  Add a check mark to "Use TLS 1.1" and/or "Use TLS 1.2".
5).  Save the changes.

It is not required that you reboot your computer after making this change.
