Description
We changed the SCRIBE user password for the SCRIBEINTERNAL database in SQL and updated the ScribeInternal_MS ODBC to use the new password. After changing the password, the Scribe services fail to start and display the error message: The service failed to initialize the internal database: Error retrieving the product id from the db.
Issue/Introduction
Use the InternalDB tool to change the SCRIBE user password. The tool will make the appropriate changes in both SQL and in the SCRIBEINTERNAL database.
Resolution
Change the SCRIBE user password using the InternalDB tool located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Scribe folder of your TIBCO Scribe® Insight server. The tool makes the appropriate changes in the SCRIBEINTERNAL database and allows the successful restart of the Scribe services.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Scribe folder of your TIBCO Scribe® Insight server.
Right-click the InternalDB.exe file and select “Run as administrator” to launch the Scribe Internal Database Maintenance Utility.
Select the Internal Database tab and click Change Password.
Enter the new SCRIBE user password and confirm.
If your Database Administrator has already changed the SCRIBE user password in SQL, select “Change the local password only”.
If the password has not yet been changed on the SQL Server, select “Change the password in the Internal Database”, and provide a SQL administrator login and password. This makes the change for both SQL and the SCRIBEINTERNAL database.
Click OK to proceed.
