This applies to the web client as well as the TIBCO Spotfire Analyst client, as it uses the default browser to connect.

Issue/Introduction

When trying to access TIBCO Cloud™ Spotfire® (the TIBCO Spotfire instance hosted in TIBCO Cloud) in your browser you may get an error "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" or "Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel".

Resolution

Spotfire has removed support for TLS (Transport Layer Security) 1.0 and 1.1 so connections can only be made using TLS 1.2.  Make sure that all browsers used have TLS 1.2 enabled.  Some older browser versions cannot support TLS 1.2 so they must be updated to the following versions or higher:

BROWSER SUPPORT FOR SECURITY TLS 1.2

  • Google Chrome: versions 70 and higher
  • Mozilla Firefox: versions 27 and higher
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer: versions 11 and higher
  • Microsoft Edge: versions 12 and higher
  • Safari: versions 7 and higher
  • Opera: version 12.1 in addition to versions 17 and higher
