Description

Links to analyses in the Spotfire Library, created in the following way, might not work as shortcuts in Windows:

  • Tools -> Library administration -> Select an analysis -> Right click -> Copy Link to Analysis -> Link for Users of the Installed Client -> Library Path
This can happen if the path contains characters, such as (white)space, that need to be encoded for the Windows shortcut to work.

The same URL, containing the un-encoded characters, can also be found in the following locations:
  • File -> Document properties -> Library -> Library URL.
  • Tools -> Library administration -> Select an analysis -> Link to Selected Item -> URL

Environment

Windows

Resolution

Replace (encode) the spaces in the URL with %20.

For example:
Non-working URL: tibcospotfire:server:http\://xxx.yyy.zzz/:analysis:/folder/Introduction to Spotfire
Working URL:        tibcospotfire:server:http\://xxx.yyy.zzz/:analysis:/folder/Introduction%20to%20Spotfire

Issue/Introduction

Copying link to analysis in library by going to Tools -> Library administration -> Select an analysis -> Right click -> Copy Link to Analysis -> Link for Users of the Installed Client -> Library Path might not work as shortcuts in Windows. One reason behind this can be that the copied path contains spaces which makes Windows truncate the URL.
