Scenario 1:
Check the preference setting for the logged-in user group(s) from the Administration Manager option. - Open Spotfire Analyst >> Tools >> Administration Manager >> Preferences >> Select the Group >> Application >> Library Preference
- Inside it, check for the below
1) EmbedAllData: Lets you specify whether or not data should be embedded in the analysis by default when saving the analysis to the library. If you do not specify anything, default is not to embed the data (False). This applies only to in-memory data because in-db data is never embedded.
2) ForceEmbedAllData: Set to True if you want the data to always be embedded in the analysis when saving to the library. This will remove the entire step in the Save to Library wizard where a user can select whether or not data should be embedded. This applies only to in-memory data because in-db data is never embedded.
Note: The value should be either Empty or "False".Change the value to either Empty or "False" if it was set to "True" and again save the file in the library. Now you will be able to save the file as "Linked to Source". Make sure that you are checking the 'Preferences' of each group to which user(s) belong to including 'everyone'.
Scenario 2:
Check the local preference setting present inside the Spotfire Analyst. - Open Spotfire Analyst >> Tools Menu >> Options.
- Click on the 'Document' tab >> Check if the "Force embed data when saving to the library" option is checked/enabled, under the "Save to library" section.
- If yes, uncheck it and relaunch Spotfire Analyst/Client.
